Welcome to Three Essentials Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine—a new wellness practice launching in Summer 2025, founded by Dr. Di Guan. With a deep commitment to traditional healing and holistic care, Dr. Guan looks forward to serving the community soon.
"Three Essentials" is the English translation of the Chinese word "San Cai" (三才). The concept of "San Cai" first appeared in the I Ching (Commentaries on the Book of Changes), explaining the relationship between Heaven, Human and Earth. The basic idea holds that Heaven is round and above, belonging to Yang and is dynamic; Earth is square and below, belonging to Yin and is static; Heaven acts and Earth receives, and through the union of Yin and Yang, all things are created. Humans, endowed with the most refined Qi from Heaven and Earth, is the most spiritual among all beings.
Dr. Guan named the clinic “Three Essentials” because she believes in the Daoism philosophy that human body is a microcosm of the universe. Therefore, our lifestyle and way of dealing with others should align with the laws of the universe, which is referred to as the Dao.
At Three Essentials, our holistic approach ensures personalized care, aiming to restore balance and promote overall well-being with modalities rooted in traditional Chinese medicine. Committed to providing a serene and welcoming environment, we strive to support your health journey every step of the way.

“As someone who is very skeptical by alternative medicines, I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of my treatment with Dr. Guan! Over a period of a couple months, I slowly began having constant tension headaches. Dr. Guan assured me this was treatable. She did a great job explaining acupuncture and how the treatment plan would work. After my first session, I noticed positive change. After my 3rd treatment I’ve been feeling completely relieved for a week now! I will continue treatment and look forward to more positive change. Thank you, Dr. Guan.” — Blake S.
